Product Description
Using the plaintive folk tune "Scarborough Fair" as the melody, I wrote a Lenten text focused around Jesus' last night before His crucifixion. Vocally, this anthem is fairly simple, yet powerful. The optional flute part is included with the anthem.
Lyrics
On the night which He was betrayed
In the night our Savior prayed
"My Father, I will drink this cup
So Your name be lifted up."
On the night which He was betrayed
Judas came with soldiers afraid
He kissed his Lord and called Him friend.
Thus began such wounds without end.
On the night which He was betrayed
No reply, no sound He made
He suffered much abuse and scorn
He was forced to wear a crown of thorns.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia to the King!
On the day our Savior died
Temple's veil was opened wide
My ev'ry sin on Him was laid
On the night which He was betrayed.
